Reflection Day 1 ( July 4th)

AT is about providing access to a task, improving performance, skill set of the user, looking at the milieu of the user and making an appropriate match to task. What are we asking the student to perform? Keep this always in the forefront when planning instruction.

Why are these devices disruptive technologies? ( ipad, iphone, and ipod touches) They replace current technologies and are universally designed devices which means utilized and accessible by all. EVERYONE can use them!
Todays presentation made me realize how much I have learned this past year in the learning centre at Tantallon. I have enlisted the help of my assistive technology coordinator to borrow an ipad for the year, embarking upon joining a family of schools PLC with the ipad, and saving recycling money from school to purchase a second ipad for the learning centre. This Spring I also collaborated with another LC teacher, as well as my Speech Language Pathologist to hold a family of schools inservice on ipad useage ( sharing and exploring apps- social, language, math and french)

I am still on the inclined learning curve and have a long way to go... but I'm excited to be embarking on this journey!
